    1. Shave the area to be treated one day before your appointment. This will prevent singeing or burning of hair and skin.

    2. Avoid direct sunlight 3 to 5 days prior to treatment day.

    3. On the day of your appointment, avoid makeup, lotions and creams, and deodorant.

    4. No other ways of hair removal in the same area 4 weeks prior to treatment days including waxing and threading.

    5. Do not use spray tan or self-tanning products within two weeks before your session.

  • A:

    1. After your session, redness or mild skin irritation is normal. This will most likely resolve itself within a few days.

    2. A sunburn-like feeling in the treated area is normal. Using an anti-itch cream that contains 1% cortisone can provide relief.

    3. Avoid lotions, creams, makeup and other products on the treated area for at least 24 hours.

    4. After 5 days, you may begin to exfoliate your skin. This will speed up the process of hair shedding and will allow your skin to feel smoother for a longer period of time.

    5. Avoid strong, direct sunlight for at least 6 to 8 weeks after. Sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) is strongly recommended. Exposure to sunlight in the weeks following the treatment could lead to dark or light spots.

    6. For the best results, avoid other types of hair removal in the same area (waxing, threading, tweezing, etc). Shaving is the best way to remove hair between sessions.

    7. Gently cleanse the area with mild soap.

Laser hair removal treatments work by sending pulses of light to the root of the hair follicle. This causes the hair to fall out at the source, and also minimizes the chances of that particular hair regrowing. Because each hair grows at a different rate, multiple treatments are required to ensure that each hair is eliminated.

Laser technology has been around for years and can be used to remove hair from different areas of your body. The question that many people have about this procedure is: "Is laser hair removal safe? Laser hair removal is a safe procedure. Because our team has such thorough training and we can confidently say that we provide safe and effective laser hair removal treatments.

  • A:

Depending on your skin tone, you'll be treated using the Alexandrite, diode, and YAG laser at the same time. The laser machine will automatically decide the level of 3 different laser lights in order to get the best result. For darker skin, hair removal is most effective with a Yag laser because it penetrates the upper skin layers (where melanin may block the efficacy of the laser) and gets to the root of the hair follicles. Lighter-skinned people will most likely opt for the Alexandrite laser treatment, one that's slightly faster. Both lasers are safe and usually produce the best results within 6-8 sessions.

  • A:

Laser hair removal is a great solution for permanent hair reduction! Though individual hairs may regrow over time, most clients report at least a 90% reduction in hair growth after 6-8 laser hair removal sessions. If your hair is very coarse or dense, you may wish to revisit our spa for a follow-up session or two after some time has passed.

  • A:

Laser hair removal and electrolysis both offer different ways to remove unwanted hair. Electrolysis is a different type of treatment for permanent hair removal. It works by sending electrical pulses to each hair follicle, damaging each hair and preventing regrowth. This differs from laser hair removal, as laser hair treatments use light to zap each follicle. Electrolysis may provide slightly more permanent results, but it requires more time and more sessions when compared to laser. Each Laser hair removal treatment will take only around 15-30 minutes!

  • Generally, most people book 6-8 sessions at Spa Zen to remove unwanted hair permanently. Sessions should generally be scheduled 4-6 weeks apart. Laser hair removal is most effective on clients with darker hair, so those folks may not require as many sessions. For anyone with very light hair or more pigmented skin, 6-8 sessions are usually the "sweet spot" for permanent hair reduction. Many other factors can affect the actual number of treatments required including:

    • skin type

    • age

    • Ethnic background/colour of hair and skin. For example, darker or tanned coloured skins usually require more treatments than lighter ones because dark pigmentation absorbs more lasers. Overall, Our latest laser machine offers superior results with less laser hair removal treatment.

  • A:

The Active Optical System is the most popular laser hair removal system and uses 3 types of laser called Alexandrite, diode, and YAG to remove unwanted body hair. The Active Optical System is capable of removing hair from many different skin types including dark skin.

Further, the Active Optical System is the one on the market that offers a breakthrough technology called Dynamic Cooling. This system keeps your skin cool during treatment, which allows for greater comfort and better results.

  • A: Depending on the part of the body (and your personal pain tolerance), laser hair removal can be slightly painful. Most clients describe the feeling as a rubber band snapping against the skin. For body parts with thin skin, such as the upper lip, neck and bikini area, you're more likely to experience some discomfort. For areas with thicker skin or more fat deposits (forearms, stomach, buttocks) it's a minimally painful experience. Fortunately, Our state-of-the-art technology utilizes the Active Optical System, which is integrated with a cryo-cooling system, providing instant relief from the heat of the laser.

  • A:

Aside from some redness, itchiness or irritation of the treated area, side effects are generally mild and resolve themselves within a few days. Cool compresses can be applied to the skin to provide relief.

Rarely, laser hair removal can cause blistering, crusting, scarring, or other changes in skin texture. Other rare side effects include graying of treated hair or excessive hair growth around treated areas, particularly on darker skin.
